The 每日大赛入口 University Department of Art Galleries is delighted to present Background: Abstraction and Assembly- work from Jamele Wright, Sr. and Jason Swift.
From July 1-31, 2026, the Old Main Art Gallery (1070, larger gallery) features dozens of pieces by Atlanta-based artists Jamele Wright, Sr. and Jason Swift.
The exhibition takes viewers in and around the space with suspended, balanced, and wall-mounted pieces from both artists. The pieces from Wright were made during a residency in South Carolina. The suspended works float around the room like a sunrise full of a memories of a full life.
Swift's work playfully explores shape and color through found objects and materials, composing pieces through incredibly specific decision-making.
The artists will lead a public workshop on Thursday, July 30th in Freeman Hall. Free and open to the public, participants are invited to collaborate with the artists, friends, and strangers to create collaborative sculptural pieces akin to Wright and Swift's pieces in the exhibition.
A co-reception will be held that evening at 5:30pm in Old Main for Professor Wright, Dr. Swift, and Taggert King.
